LightArchitecture aims to bring a new form of beauty to the built environment. A beauty rooted in lightness – of touch, of form, and of thinking. It is driven by a desire to do more with less. We are mindful of the need to conserve the Earth’s dwindling resources, and of our responsibility to design structures that heal – physically and emotionally – their users.

Light is our medium.
We use it to reconnect people with their habitat. Its shifting patterns and rhythms define our designs and unite them with their environment. Light reveals the intrinsic beauty around us and is the foundation of elegance and refinement.

Lightness is our driving force.
Lightness in shape, structure and ideas is a quest for efficiency. Minimum use of materials to achieve maximum effect. It is a fundamental of design and a pathway to progress.

LightArchitecture was founded in 2022 by Hernan Kraviez and Jonny Cox to share their vision for the future of the built environment. They create an architecture defined by lightness, one which embodies the belief that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

Hernan Kraviez
Founder
Design Director

Hernan co-founded LightArchitecure in 2022 to bring new ways of seeing, thinking, and making to the built environment. He is driven by a belief that a humane architecture is the key to building a sustainable future, one that reconnects people with the natural world.

During his 14 years at Foster + Partners Hernan lead a diverse range of prestigious projects around the world as Partner; from exclusive niche hospitality projects such as Cathay Pacific’s private lounges at Hong Kong Airport, to large complex infrastructure developments like Lusail Stadium, the centrepiece for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. In January 2018 Hernan became Head of Architecture, Design and Technology at the Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid, working alongside Norman Foster on the development of sustainable and experimental projects primarily focused on humanitarian, cultural, and educational purposes.

Hernan graduated with honours as an architect from the School of Architecture, Design and Urbanism at the University of Buenos Aires in 1996, before postgraduate studies at Harvard University. He received an MSc from the Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London in 2003. Hernan has taught and been a guest critic at universities in Argentina, the US and the UK and has given lectures and  regularly participates in international  design and urban planning symposia.
